How we research, check, update and correct everything on eastjakarta.com.
Our standards
eastjakarta.com is an independent guide written by the eastjakarta.com team. Our aim is simple: give visitors to East Jakarta information that is accurate, current and genuinely useful. That means stating only what we can verify, dating anything that changes, saying plainly when a figure is approximate and never letting commercial relationships shape a recommendation.
How we research and verify
We start with official sources and work outwards. For an attraction, that is its own website, ticketing page or verified social accounts. For transport, it is the operator (KAI Commuter, TransJakarta, LRT Jabodebek, InJourney Airports). For entry rules, it is the Indonesian immigration and customs portals.
Where an official source is missing or out of date, we cross-check at least two reputable sources, usually established Indonesian news outlets, and hedge the figure ("about", "roughly"). When sources disagree, we say so or give the more cautious figure.
Prices and hours carry the month we checked them, for example "checked October 2026".
- Official source first Attraction, operator or government website
- Cross-check At least two reputable sources when no official one exists
- Hedge and date Approximate figures are marked; prices and hours are dated
- Same facts in both languages English and Bahasa Indonesia pages are checked together
- No invented details No made-up quotes, reviews, ratings or phone numbers
How often we update
| Content | What we aim for |
|---|---|
| Ticket prices and opening hours | Reviewed at least every six months, and as soon as we learn of a change |
| Transport fares and routes | Updated when operators announce changes (for example, fare changes on TransJakarta) |
| Visa and entry rules | Checked against official immigration sources whenever a page that mentions them is updated |
| Hotel and tour suggestions | Reviewed every few months for closures, renovations and changes in guest feedback |
| Blog posts | Reviewed when facts in them change; the date at the top shows when a post was written |
Each page shows when it was last updated. If you're relying on a specific price or time, confirm it with the venue before you travel; our disclaimer explains why.
How we choose hotels and tours
We feature a hotel, tour or service because it solves a real problem for a visitor to East Jakarta, not because of the commission it pays. When choosing, we look at:
- Location: how close it is to the sights, stations and airport that matter for the trip it suits.
- Guest feedback: recent reviews across major booking platforms, with attention to cleanliness, noise and service.
- Value and clarity: fair pricing for the area, clear inclusions and sensible cancellation terms.
- Practicality: things such as airport pick-up, family rooms, English-speaking staff or easy access to Grab and Gojek.
Many of the places we recommend earn us nothing at all, from warungs and markets to free museums. Businesses cannot pay to be included, and we do not accept free stays, meals or tours in return for coverage. How we earn money is explained in our affiliate disclosure.
How we use AI and other tools
We use digital tools, including AI tools, to help us gather sources, organise research, draft text and translate between English and Bahasa Indonesia. We think it's right to tell you that.
Tools do not replace checking. Every factual claim on the site, especially prices, opening hours, fares and entry rules, is researched and fact-checked against official sources before publication, and approximate figures are marked as such. We don't publish AI-generated reviews, invented first-person experiences or fabricated quotes. The Indonesian version of each page is written to read naturally for Indonesian readers and carries the same facts as the English version.
Corrections policy
We make mistakes, and Jakarta changes fast. When we get something wrong, we fix it:
- We check every correction we receive against the original source.
- Confirmed errors are corrected promptly on both the English and Indonesian versions of the page.
- The page's "updated" date is changed. Where an error could have affected someone's plans, such as a wrong closing day, we add a short note explaining what changed.
To report an error, use our contact page and include the page link, what's wrong and, if you have it, where you saw the correct information.
