Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII)

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah is the archipelago in one park: traditional houses from every province, a cluster of museums, a cable car over a lake shaped like the islands, and Jagat Satwa Nusantara's bird park and reptile house. It opened in April 1975 and has been revamped under InJourney, with free shuttles and bikes inside. Give it a full day and start early.

A short history

TMII opened on 20 April 1975 as a showcase of Indonesia's provinces and cultures, and it celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025. Management passed to the state tourism group InJourney, which has refreshed the grounds, added a parking building and introduced free shuttle buses and bike tours so that cars stay at the edge of the park.

What to see

Walk the regional pavilions (anjungan), free and open roughly 08:00–16:00, then pick two or three museums: the Indonesia Museum (Rp10,000), the Transportation Museum, the Stamp Museum or the Indonesia Science Center (Rp27,500). The cable car costs Rp50,000 on weekdays and Rp60,000 at weekends and gives the best view of the archipelago lake. Families should budget for Jagat Satwa Nusantara: the Bird Park is Rp75,000 on weekdays and Rp85,000 at weekends. Stay for Tirta Cerita, a free fountain show at about 18:30 from Tuesday to Sunday. All prices checked October 2026.

Tips for the day

Arrive when Gate 3 opens and do the outdoor pavilions before 11:00; spend the hottest hours inside the museums or the Keong Emas theatre. Hours were adjusted in 2026 and some days have special openings or closures, so check the official site the day before. The At-Tin mosque sits just outside Gate 1 and the Lubang Buaya memorial is a short ride north, so you can pair them.

Getting there

LRT Jabodebek has a TMII station on the Cibubur line; from Halim airport it is a short Grab or Gojek ride. Drivers pay a vehicle ticket at the gate. See our public transport guide.
